Having been on a run of five games without a win, Leeds United were back at Elland Road as they hosted Tottenham Hotspur. Goals were a concern for the Peacocks, given that Spurs came in with back-to-back wins.
A goalless first half presented a challenge for Leeds, who had been unbeaten at home in eight games before their lunchtime kickoff.
A second-half substitution goal from Noah Okafor grabbed victory for Daniel Farke's side. Goals remain a concern for the team, but the home side had the momentum and remained hard to beat at home.
Despite a quiet first half, Leeds started to build momentum and excite Elland Road with their chances.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin had two big chances off two Leeds deliveries, which kick-started Leeds' action inside the final third. All of a sudden, they found themselves inside the Spurs half more frequently.
Calvert-Lewin continued to be a constant threat, as he was through one-on-one but didn't take the initial shot and passed to Ao Tanaka, who fired over the crossbar.
Leeds' presence grew and piled pressure on Spurs' defence, drawing the Elland Road crowd into it. Calvert-Lewin soon hit the bar, with Okafor then firing into the net.
Near misses and goals built momentum, with Leeds fans loud and vocal. An encouraging attack, with chance after chance, created trouble for Spurs.
Once Leeds find a rhythm, particularly at home, it is hard for any side to get back into the game; take Newcastle, for example, when they went to Elland Road and struggled to get a hold of it, losing 4-1.
The last time Leeds lost on their own home turf was against Sunderland in March, when they lost 1-0. They then went unbeaten in their next five home games towards the end of last season.
They have yet to lose a game at home this season, remaining unbeaten in the five matches they have played, including their victory over De Zerbi's Spurs; it's now nine games unbeaten at Elland Road.
It is their longest top-flight home run since 2001, according to Squawka. Leeds have established an identity whenever teams come to play them, being hard to beat, going on the front foot, and never giving teams a break.
Credit also goes to Daniel Farke for adapting to make this side difficult to beat and likely to upset many teams, whoever comes to play them this season.
Spurs were on a five-game unbeaten run, with three wins, and Leeds ended it.
