For a moment, it looked as if the Wildcats would run away with this one. They opened up a 10-point lead over TCU, only for Sonny Dykes’ Horned Frogs to fight back and take a 14-10 halftime lead. TCU still led 21-17 going into the fourth quarter, but Noah Fifita was not ready to let the game go, steering Arizona to a thrilling 29-28 win. The fans could hardly believe what they had just witnessed.

ESPN cameras caught a moment that perfectly summed up college football madness. As the game slipped away from the Wildcats, a blonde female Arizona fan was visibly in tears, her heartbreak plain on the broadcast.

Then came the touchdown that changed everything. Her tears gave way to unfiltered joy, and she leapt to her feet and celebrated every second of Arizona’s comeback.

Arizona came out firing, racing to a 10-0 lead before the opening quarter came to an end. Fifita set the tone by connecting with Isaiah Mizell for a 20-yard touchdown to put his team in a commanding position. However, TCU had no intention of backing down at home.

Jaden Craig sparked the comeback, orchestrating an eight-play, 61-yard drive before capping it off himself with a seven-yard rushing touchdown. The Horned Frogs’ defense then turned the game on its head, intercepting Fifita and returning the pass 93 yards for a touchdown. TCU had erased the deficit and led 14-10 at halftime.

The second half opened with Fifita restoring Arizona’s lead with a rushing touchdown, but Craig had another answer. With the third quarter winding down, he found Jordan Dwyer for a six-yard score, capping an 11-play, 75-yard drive.

As the fourth quarter got underway, TCU held a slender 21-17 lead, leaving Arizona with just 15 minutes to turn things around. Sonny Dykes and the Horned Frogs believed they could secure the win on the road.

The Wildcats opened the final quarter with a field goal that cut the deficit to just one point. With six and a half minutes left, Craig found the end zone once again, stretching TCU’s lead to 28-20.

The Wildcats needed a spark, and with less than two minutes on the clock, Fifita delivered it. He connected with Quincy Craig for a 15-yard touchdown on third down, pulling Arizona within two points. TCU stopped the two-point try, but the score had done more than shrink the deficit. It put the pressure back on the Horned Frogs and opened the door for everything that followed.

Then disaster struck for TCU. Ed Small fumbled the ensuing kickoff, handing Arizona the ball once more. This time the Wildcats made it count, kicking the go-ahead field goal with roughly 30 seconds remaining.

TCU still had one last chance, and a field goal would have been enough to rescue the Horned Frogs. Instead, Craig’s first pass of the drive ended in an interception, sealing another agonising one-score defeat for TCU.

“What you saw was a great demonstration of redline. Effort, execution and accountability,” Arizona head coach Brent Brennan said after the Wildcats’ comeback win over TCU. “It’s November; these games are just battles, and that’s what you expect when you get into this month. Knowing it was going to be a four-quarter game, I think anytime you have Noah Fifita pulling the trigger, you have a chance.

“It was just magic the way that thing finished.”

At 7-2, the Wildcats are building a case for the College Football Playoff, though they will have to keep winning to stay in the race.
