Liam Delap announced his arrival as a Nottingham Forest player with two stunning goals against Manchester City on Saturday evening.

Oliver Glasner praised Ryan Yates as the captain turned in a fine performance following his surprise inclusion in the starting eleven, and this display was brilliant to a man from a Forest perspective.

Glasner was afforded a warm embrace with Evangelos Marinakis after the game, and the relief was etched all over the head coach’s face at the full-time whistle.

Delap was the match winner for Forest with his two stunners enough to secure a badly needed victory for the Reds, and in the aftermath of the game, his teammates have had a laugh with the striker on social media.

He’s posted an image which has clearly been made using AI, with Delap’s head on Ronaldo’s body, with it crystal clear that the talisman has taken some stick for his celebration against City.

Nobody will mind what Delap does in celebration as long as the fans get to witness him scoring more goals for Forest, and there does feel as though there is more to come for the youngster.

Delap has encountered ridicule so far this season from outsiders, with the £45 million that Forest paid coming under scrutiny.

Given the nature of his goals against City, Delap has silenced a few of his critics, and ultimately it’s now on him to keep scoring and continue proving people wrong.
