Former Downham Town and Diss Town manager Garth Good appointed the new boss of Heacham in the Thurlow Nunn Premier Division

Heacham have tonight confirmed the appointment of Garth Good as their new manager.

As revealed by the Lynn News at the weekend, Good was believed to be in the frame for the vacant position following the recent sacking of Mark Hunter.

Good, who had a brief spell in charge of Downham Town before stepping down in November 2012, arrives at Station Road following a three-year stint with Diss Town in the Thurlow Nunn First Division North.

He guided Diss to an eighth-placed finish in his first season – their highest league position since 2016/17 – before securing a play-off spot the following campaign.

Diss lost in the semi-finals before finishing 17th last season.

The former Norwich City Academy coach, who holds a UEFA A licence, will take charge of his first training session tomorrow night.

Good now faces the daunting task of steering the Magpies away from the Thurlow Nunn Premier Division relegation zone after 15 defeats in their opening 16 league games.
