Oklahoma Sooners starting offensive lineman trending toward return

A member of the Oklahoma Sooners' starting offensive line is trending toward a return this week. On the initial availability report released by the SEC on Wednesday evening, center Jake Maikkula was listed as probable.

Maikkula missed the South Carolina game with a lower-body injury suffered in the win over Mississippi State. As long as he maintains his probable status over the next couple of days, Maikkula will likely return to the starting lineup for the Sooners' road trip to face the Florida Gators. If he does, it'll be the most intact the Oklahoma offensive line has been this season after Heath Ozaeta returned to the starting lineup last weekend.

The other big name to watch for the Sooners offense is tight end Rocky Beers. Beers is Oklahoma's second-leading receiver this season, with 34 receptions for 446 yards, and leads the team with four receiving touchdowns. Beers was listed as questionable for this Saturday. If he's not able to play, Hayden Hansen will get a vast majority of the tight end snaps, but the Sooners will need someone to step up in the pass-catching department.

Also of note are the questionable tags on defensive backs Peyton and Eli Bowen. Peyton played last week against South Carolina, while Eli missed his fourth game in a row. Against a talented Florida wide receiver group, the Sooners defense would certainly benefit from their availability on Saturday.

Florida will be without starting offensive tackle Emeka Ugorji this week. Two of their better wide receivers in Bailey Stockton (questionable) and Vernell Brown III are also in danger of missing the Week 10 contest. Stockton is second on the Gators in receiving, and Brown is third. Brown hasn't played since late September. Another name to keep an eye on is defensive end Emmanuel Oyebadejo. Oyebadejo is tied for the team lead with 4.5 sacks and is second in tackles for loss. He's also listed as questionable this week.
