Alvechurch have apologised for 'unacceptable behaviour' following two separate incidents at the end of their FA Cup clash with Spalding United

Alvechurch have apologised for 'unacceptable behaviour' following two separate incidents at the end of their FA Cup clash with Spalding United on Tuesday night.

A pitch invasion took place after the Worcestershire side had recorded a 4-0 home success over the Tulips in the fourth qualifying round replay at Lye Meadow.

One member of Spalding United's staff was allegedly struck by a fan while a young family had to be taken to safety by the security team.

A statement from Alvechurch said: "We have been made aware of two separate incidents which occurred immediately following the FA Cup fourth round qualifying win at Lye Meadow.

"We understand that pitch invasions can occur at the final whistle in games of this magnitude but it is wholly unacceptable for anyone to act in a way which can intimidate others.

"There is a serious accusation, which we are investigating, regarding a member of Spalding United staff who was struck by a fan.

"We will be using camera footage and exploring every measure possible to find out who the culprit was, and if successful, we will not hesitate to hand out a life time banning order.

"A separate incident has been reported where a father with his young family was subjected to an assault on the way to his vehicle.

"He had to subsequently return to the clubhouse so he could have safe escort from our security staff.

"This is totally unacceptable, extremely embarrassing for the club and simply not what Alvechurch FC is about.

"We would rather struggle with low attendances than have these type of people causing these types of issues in our ground.

"We firstly apologise to anyone who was affected and give you our word that we will be doing everything in our power to bring these idiots to justice."

The win set up a trip to League One side Plymouth for the Southern League Premier Division Central club.
