There are sections of the Celtic fanbase who feel Martin O’Neill should step aside, given the continued problems at the club.

From failing to secure Champions League qualification to losing six out of their last ten matches, it hasn’t been plain sailing for an out-of-sorts Celtic side this season.

Charlie Mulgrew feels Martin O’Neill should remain as Celtic manager

“Do I think Martin O’Neill should remain in charge?” repeated Mulgrew. “Should he remain in charge? Just now? Right this minute? 

“He is still top of the league, even if Rangers won their game in hand. He is still top of the league, so I think he should remain in charge. He has enough credit in the bank to show that he can win games.

“But I don’t know how long the performances can continue to be bad, and you can continue to win games in the league.”

Why would Kieran McKenna turn down Celtic?

“If Kieran McKenna is going to come in,” said Mulgrew. “He is going to look behind the scenes, he is going to do his research, speak to Martin O’Neill and say, ‘What do you see here?’

“Martin O’Neill is going to say, ‘Well, this is the signings I get given.’ Kieran McKenna, whose stock is high, is going to say, ‘It’s not for me.’ I don’t know what happens in the bigger picture here. There is a lot that needs to be sorted at Celtic Park.”
