First-half goals from Euan Pollock and Mitch Beardmore put Weymouth in control at the Bob Lucas Stadium.

Tor Swann added a third after the interval to ensure three points and a return to the top of the Southern League division one table.

The win represented the response Wells had been seeking following Saturday's performance and defeat toTiverton, ending the club's unbeaten start to the league campaign.

Speaking in his post match interview, he said: "Really pleased with the performance today.

"First and foremost, clean sheet. Everything we did today was excellent.

"A bit of a contrast to Saturday. We kept the ball well, we moved the ball well.

"Rotations, movement with the lads was excellent. Out of possession, we were really good.

"Didn't give Willand any opportunities really, which we've been guilty over the last few weeks of, giving opportunities away and letting teams in.

"As we did Saturday, and today we eradicated those errors, which was good."

Willand did threaten to change the complexion of the contest immediately after the interval.

Rovers came onto the front foot and tested goalkeeper Gerard Benfield but Weymouth weathered that spell before Swann struck in the 56th minute to make it 3-0.

Wells was particularly pleased with how his players managed that period.

He said: "I thought how Willand came out in the second half was how they were going to be on the front foot in the first half, to be fair.

"Second half, the first 10-15 minutes, it was a different game to the first half.

"But, again, we managed it well in and out of possession. I thought we managed the game really well.

"Again, we took our opportunity, made it 3-0 and the game was comfortable from there on.

"Really, it was just a case of keep possession of the ball, keep working the opportunities and be patient."
