Ross County defender Dylan Smith will return to the international fold after being named in the Scotland under-21s squad for their upcoming friendly matches.
The 20-year-old has been a regular fixture in the Staggies backline this season, whether at right back or centre back, making 20 appearances across all competitions.
Most recently he played all 90 minutes as County progressed in the KDM Evolution Trophy with two goals and a clean sheet against Celtic B.
He is also no stranger to the national set-up. Smith made six appearances for Scotland’s under-17s, and eight for the national under-19s, before graduating to the under-21s last year.
Now, he has been named in former County manager Tony Docherty’s squad for the upcoming international break.
Scotland’s under-21s will travel to Alicante to play two matches, against Ukraine on Thursday, November 12 and the USA on Sunday, November 15.
That will mean Smith is unavailable for County’s trip to Hamilton Academical on the Saturday between those fixtures, as will Richard Chin after his own call-up to the senior Malaysia squad.
He will be joined by two fellow Highland-based players in Spain, with Caley Thistle pair Calum Macleod and Alfie Stewart also named in Docherty’s squad.
