NFL Hall of Fame quarterback Drew Brees was given just over a minute of FOX NFL Sunday pregame airtime to break down the strengths of coordinator Brian Flores's Minnesota Vikings defense.
After Brees, a FOX color commentator, lauded Flores's blitz-heavy strategy and the deployment of linebackers Blake Cashman, Erick Wilson, and Andrew Van Ginkle, Terry Bradshaw appeared to have heard enough.
The 78-year-old, who had earlier laughed at a Tom Brady on-air expletive, clapped his hands together as Brees was finishing his segment and then proceeded to walk across the panel - a group that included Howie Long and Michael Strahan - and into another corner of the FOX Los Angeles studio.
Bradshaw may have been repositioning himself ahead of the next FOX NFL Sunday segment, but he nonetheless walked in front of Brees while he was still mid-sentence.
Brees's appearance in the studio marks his first of the year. He is assigned to the 4:05 pm ET Los Angeles Chargers-Los Angeles Rams game for FOX on Sunday at SoFi Stadium nearby, which also allows him to contribute to the FOX NFL Sunday pregame show.
Colleague Tom Brady makes similar studio appearances alongside Bradshaw, Long, Strahan, and host Curt Menefee when he was late to games in Los Angeles.
Drew Brees's Minnesota analysis The Vikings head into Week 8 of the NFL season with an impressive 6-0 record, currently leading every significant defensive metric. Coordinator Flores has pioneered a distinctive strategy, deploying five defenders more than 60% of the time - an unprecedented approach in NFL history.
Former NFL quarterback Drew Brees analyzed virtual footage of the Minnesota defense from the team's hard-fought 16-10 Week 7 victory over the Indianapolis Colts.
"[Flores's blitzes] present so many different challenges, and it starts with all the guys that they bring to the line of scrimmage," Brees said. "In most cases, you're going to have seven or eight guys at the line of scrimmage at all times, and you have no idea who's coming, no idea who's dropping out.
"And sometimes they'll bring them all. At times they'll just bring maybe five or six, and then at times they're going to drop them all and just bring their normal four."
The Vikings hit the road on Sunday, traveling to Michigan to take on NFC North rivals the Detroit Lions (4-2) in a matchup with significant NFC playoff implications. Minnesota, who finished last season with a modest 9-8 record, has claimed the division title just once over the past seven seasons.
