Nebraska football offensive coordinator Dana Holgorsen made an interesting statement ahead of the team’s game against Illinois on Friday afternoon. He pointed out one specific thing he noticed about the offensive unit against the Washington Huskies last Saturday.
The Huskers were upset by the Huskies 17-10. In a game that was played on Halloween evening, Jedd Fisch and the Washington program offered no treats. Instead, they pulled off the upset on the road.
Nebraska’s offense totaled 355 yards, including 255 through the air. They also had 132 yards on the ground, but it wasn't enough to beat a Washington team that played at a high level. Holgerson pinpointed a reason for their lack of success, as he told the media Wednesday.
"They wanted that game so bad. They wanted to perform a little bit better so bad. When you do that, that's called pressing... It's on me for not recognizing that."
The program will have a chance to turn the tide around quickly against an Illinois passing defense that ranks 118th in the country. The offense will have to be better if the program wants to end its three-game losing streak.
