Estevao Willian made quite the impact as Chelsea beat Manchester United 2-0 at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.
It was the 19-year-old’s first Premier League start of the season and he was instrumental as Xabi Alonso’s side overcame the Red Devils to climb into the top four. Estevao had played only 172 minutes this season prior to Saturday’s game and was left on the bench during the Carabao Cup exit to Liverpool.
Estevao was simply brilliant against Man Utd and he was a constant threat on the right wing. His six shots against Michael Carrick's side (three on target) was the most a Chelsea player has attempted in a game this season, while the former Palmeiras man also attempted eight crosses. T hings could have been even better against United but he was denied a first goal of the campaign in the second half by a fractional offside call.
Have your say...
The form of Morgan Rogers, Cole Palmer and Joao Pedro has been keeping Estevao out of the team but with the latter now injured, more minutes could come the teenager's way. After the victory over Man Utd, Palmer praised his team-mate's patience and quality.
“He needed to be patient for his moment and he got his moment today,” said Palmer, whose second-half penalty sealed victory for the home side. “He was unlucky with the offside. I think it was literally a centimetre. But we know the talent he’s got and we all love him. So hopefully he can continue like that.”
