Tom Brady had high praise for Rob Gronkowski as the latter celebrated his induction into the New England Patriots' Hall of Fame.
On Saturday, Gronkowski joined a select group of Patriots legends in receiving a red jacket, commemorating his overall impact in New England, culminating in three championships. Though he won a fourth title with Brady as a member of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Gronkowski will forever be known as a Patriots legend for his work with Brady and head coach Bill Belichick.
Before Gronkowski's immense accomplishment, cameras spotted him and Brady taking a moment to chat and share words as the tight end looked to see his career with the Patriots immortalized.
In a seven-second clip, Gronkowski was spotted dapping up his former quarterback, with Brady audibly telling his former teammate that he wanted to cherish the moment together. "How you doing? Come on, I couldn't miss this," Brady said to Gronkowski as the two shared a moment.
After the post went viral on social media, the seven-time Super Bowl champion added on X, "That's my [goat emoji]."
When the festivities began in earnest, the 37-year-old was effusive in his praise for Brady, explaining that observing how the quarterback conducted himself fueled his desire to become a better football player.
"I saw how Tom worked," he recalled. "I saw what it took to be great. And I wanted to be at that level. It took me a little bit. There's no doubt. I was 20 years old when I got drafted. You think you know everything. You don't know anything when you first get here.
"But obviously when you're young, you're figuring it out. But I loved the way that Tom worked. I loved the way that the coaches worked. I loved the way that all the other players worked. And I knew if I wanted to be great as well, I had to get on that level. I had to stay after practice."
What's more, Gronkowski likened Brady's processing power to a computer, recalling a story while also reaffirming his trust in the signal caller's decision-making.
"See, Tom, this guy's got memory like a freaking AI machine. That's why he's the greatest. That's why I trusted him," he continued.
And while the moment was shared by those across the organization, Patriots owner Robert Kraft was unable to attend the ceremony. Kraft did not partake in the festivities as he was recovering from back surgery to relieve chronic back pain.
Still, the 82-year-old recorded a video for Gronkowski on his big day with the organization.
"Gronk, I love you, man," Kraft began. "Since the first day we drafted you, I could see you on stage with your dad and your brothers, and you became family."
"For as much pain as I had doing what I just did, the pain of missing this celebration and having the privilege of putting you into the Hall of Fame with a red jacket is so disappointing to me. I love you, man."
