Juventus are convinced about 30-year-old Tottenham loanee and will sign him permanently

The star has impressed for Juventus after joining on loan from Tottenham.

Tottenham Hotspur had to rebuild their squad after a near-disastrous 2025/26 season. This led to the club bringing in 10 new players and offloading more than that figure, with many of those leaving on loan with buy option/obligation clauses.

Guglielmo Vicario was one of those players. The 30-year-old moved to Juventus on a season-long loan to become their new No.1. The Turin giants have an €8m option to sign the goalkeeper.

The Italian international has enjoyed an encouraging loan spell so far with Juventus, putting his difficult period in north London behind him. He has kept five clean sheets and conceded 10 goals in 10 Serie A games thus far. Well, Guglielmo Vicario was not the first choice for Juventus, though. The Serie A club’s priority was Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker, but after it became clear that the Premier League giants are reluctant to part ways with the Brazilian, they shifted their focus to Vicario.

Juventus plan to trigger Guglielmo Vicario’s buy clause option

According to Italian newspaper Tuttosport (h/t Sport Witness), Vicario has ‘won over the Juventus management’ with his strong displays. The club’s bosses are ‘increasingly planning’ to exercise the purchase option that they have on the goalkeeper, which is in the region of €8m. It is a price that the Bianconeri management would be happy to pay now, particularly as the other goalkeeper options in the squad are set to leave on free transfers next summer.

Juventus are planning to make Vicario the undisputed No.1 and the mentor for the future. The report adds that the Italian can hold down the No.1 spot at the club while mentoring the upcoming crop of young shot-stoppers.

In September, Vicario opened up about his exit from Tottenham after a transformative period for the club under De Zerbi. The glovesman made it clear that he prefers to look forward rather than dwell on past events in North London.

Jamie Carragher speaks on Sky Sports as he analyses Guglielmo Vicario’s costly error against Nottingham Forest.

So, reports emerging of Juventus wanting to sign the Italian permanently should come as positive news for De Zerbi and Spurs in their bid to offload him. Vicario could prove a bargain acquisition for Juventus, given the relatively modest figure attached to their option to sign him permanently.

Former goalkeeper Emanuele Belardi has also backed the Turin giants to sign Vicario on a permanent basis from Tottenham due to his “reliability”. Luciano Spalletti’s club are thoroughly satisfied with Vicario’s impact and contributions since the start of the season, and they want to secure his future as quickly as possible.
