Washington Huskies center Tilda Trygger became the latest member of coach Tina Langley's roster to add a preseason accolade, being one of 20 players named to the preseason Lisa Leslie Center of the Year Award watch list on Friday.
Trygger, a 6-foot-6 transfer addition from North Carolina State, received the same honor last year before turning in a career-best season for the Wolfpack as a sophomore in 2025-26, averaging 10.6 points and 7 rebounds in 30 starts.
The award, named after the former Los Angeles Sparks star, has recognized the top center in NCAA Division I women's basketball each year since 2018. Fans are allowed to vote for players named to the preseason watch list beginning Oct. 30, with the field of 20 players cut down to 10 in February and the five finalists announced in March.
One of several incoming transfers for Langley ahead of the 2026-27 season, Trygger proved to be one of the best centers in the country with five double-doubles, three of which came in consecutive games against Clemson, SMU, and Wake Forest.
Trygger scored a career-high 25 points in a 106-84 victory at Boston College on 10-of-14 shooting from the floor, the only 20-point game of her career, with the expectation that should change this season for the Huskies with a mix of experienced guards and forwards around her to push for a deep NCAA Tournament run this season.
Not only can the experienced big make an impact on the offensive end, but she more than holds her own defensively with 11 career double-digit rebounding performances, six of which came as a sophomore last year.
UW begins its 2026-27 season at Alaska Airlines Arena on November 2 against UC San Diego.
