Real Madrid and Barcelona are very much keen on bringing Pedro Porro back to Spain in 2027, with the Tottenham Hotspur star recently admitting his desire to return to his homeland at some point in his career.
Porro has been one of the North London club’s most consistent performers in the last couple of seasons. The 27-year-old committed his future at White Hart Lane by signing a new contract until 2031 in the summer, before he went on to win the World Cup with Spain. Yet, there continues to be speculation surrounding the experienced defender’s future.
The prospect of losing Porro has prompted Spurs to assess potential replacements across the globe.
According to a report from Spanish outlet Fichajes, Tottenham have joined the pursuit of Palmeiras right-back Agustin Giay, who could be available for around €25 million. Palmeiras are prepared to consider the 22-year-old’s departure after the Copa Libertadores final on November 28.
Agustin Giay has enjoyed an impressive campaign with Palmeiras, racking up four goals and an assist in 46 appearances. A right-back by trade, the Argentine has also operated in central defence and right midfield, showcasing his versatility. However, Tottenham are far from alone in monitoring the Palmeiras defender.
The report adds that Atletico Madrid and Napoli are also in the race for the 22-year-old’s signature. Giay’s rise has been remarkable. He moved to Palmeiras from San Lorenzo in the summer of 2024 and quickly made an impression in the Brazilian Serie A, with his consistent performances helping him earn five senior caps for Argentina in 2026 itself.
The international recognition has further enhanced his reputation as a well-rounded full-back, with scouts from a number of clubs flocking to watch the South American in action this season.

Giay’s attacking qualities, agility, athleticism, versatility and ability to perform at the highest level have made him an increasingly attractive prospect for clubs looking to strengthen at right-back. The five-cap Argentina international’s progress has also placed Palmeiras in a strong position, with the defender tied to the Brazilian club until 2030.
Nonetheless, the Brazilian outfit are prepared to sell him for around €25 million at the end of this month. For Tottenham, Giay represents a potential long-term solution should Porro eventually depart. The 22-year-old possesses the attributes to be an exciting long-term investment for De Zerbi’s Spurs, but they will need to act decisively to beat Atletico Madrid and Napoli to his signature.
