Gujarat Titans (GT) could retain a strong core featuring captain Shubman Gill, Sai Sudharsan, Rashid Khan, Jos Buttler, Mohammed Siraj, and Prasidh Krishna ahead of the IPL 2027 auction. The franchise has a settled combination of experienced overseas players and young Indian talent.
GT finished as runners-up in IPL 2026 after losing to Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the final on May 31. After a slow start, Shubman Gill's team staged an impressive comeback to finish second in the league standings and reach the final. The franchise will now look to address a few squad requirements.
The Titans are expected to retain Shubman Gill, Sai Sudharsan, Rashid Khan, Jos Buttler, Mohammed Siraj, and Prasidh Krishna. Gill and Sudharsan were among the biggest contributors with the bat in IPL 2026, scoring 732 and 722 runs, respectively.
Kagiso Rabada is also a priority retention after an outstanding campaign. The South African pacer claimed 29 wickets to win the Purple Cap. Alongside Rabada, Rashid Khan provides an experienced bowling option, while Buttler remains an important overseas batting choice.
The franchise could also retain Washington Sundar, Rahul Tewatia, and Ravisrinivasan Sai Kishore. Among the other players, Jason Holder and Ashok Sharma could continue with the franchise.
Gujarat Titans' predicted retained players list:
Shubman Gill, Rashid Khan, Jos Buttler, Mohammed Siraj, Kagiso Rabada, Prasidh Krishna, Sai Sudharsan, Washington Sundar, Rahul Tewatia, Ravisrinivasan Sai Kishore, Connor Esterhuizen, Jason Holder, Kumar Kushagra, Arshad Khan, Nishant Sindhu, Gurnoor Brar, Manav Suthar, Ashok Sharma, and Kulwant Khejroliya.
The Titans could release Shahrukh Khan to create additional auction purse space. Among the overseas players, Glenn Phillips, Tom Banton, and Luke Wood could also be released. These departures could help the franchise bring in players who offer a better balance to its overseas combination.
Jayant Yadav and Ishant Sharma are also among the potential departures. Wicketkeeper Anuj Rawat could join them in the auction pool. Releasing these seven players would help Gujarat Titans reclaim ₹10.55 crore ahead of the IPL 2027 mini-auction.
Gujarat Titans' predicted released players list:
Shahrukh Khan, Glenn Phillips, Tom Banton, Luke Wood, Jayant Yadav, Anuj Rawat, and Ishant Sharma.
Gujarat Titans do not need a major overhaul after reaching the IPL 2026 final. However, strengthening the middle order should be one of the management's priorities. The franchise has a strong top order featuring Gill, Sudharsan, and Buttler, but needs additional batting support to handle situations when they fail.
Finding another dependable finisher is equally important. Rahul Tewatia provides a reliable option in the lower order, but the franchise could look for an additional power-hitter to strengthen its finishing department.
The fast-bowling attack also requires suitable backups. Mohammed Siraj, Kagiso Rabada, Prasidh Krishna, and Jason Holder offer considerable quality, but adding depth would help the franchise manage injuries and player workloads throughout the tournament.
Gujarat Titans must also assess their overseas combination carefully. With several international players competing for limited places in the playing XI, the management will need to prioritise players who offer different skills and improve the overall squad balance.
