John Kavanagh believes that Conor McGregor isn’t done competing.

Kavanagh was devastated watching McGregor’s UFC 329 return end in an injury just 69 seconds into his main event in July.

Since this was his first fight in five years, many have questioned whether it will be the last time we see ‘The Notorious’ compete inside the Octagon.

McGregor is still in the testing pool having never suggested that his MMA career is over and his coach has no reason to doubt him at this stage.

John Kavanagh believes that Conor McGregor will fight again if this is what he’s set on doing

It is no secret that Conor McGregor has one fight left on his UFC deal following his rematch with Max Holloway earlier this year.

While exploring other options seems to motivate ‘The Notorious,’ he’ll still have to recover from another major injury to compete in this last bout.

John Kavanagh has pushed back on various theories that have been suggested in the aftermath of this fight.

Whether it was McGregor not seeming confident or coming into the fight with an injury, his coach is adamant that everything was going to plan ahead of his comeback.

Having seen his star pupil return from big health setbacks in the past, Kavanagh recently said that if stepping back inside the Octagon is what McGregor has set his mind on, he expects it to happen.

“He says he does [fight again],” he told The Ariel Helwani Show. “I think I’m just too long around him, now 22 years around each other, and I’ve just seen him do too many things that seem to be impossible and he does them, repeatedly. So, if he says he does, I’m not going to doubt him.

“We’ll see. I guess it’ll be next year until he can start returning to MMA type training. He’s going through his rehab now and he’s back. He looks pretty good to me. He looks to be moving around quite well.”

John Kavanagh doesn’t know whether Conor McGregor will continue to compete in MMA

John Kavanagh said during his appearance on the show that it’s hard to imagine UFC 329 being the last time we see Conor McGregor compete.

However, he isn’t sure that another comeback would be a full return to regular MMA competition.

“I just don’t know if he’s done with competition just yet,” he said. “What does that look like? I don’t know.”

It was mentioned during the interview that Conor Benn recently reacted to rumors of a potential matchup with ‘The Notorious’.

Kavanagh seemed particularly excited by this option having suggested that if McGregor does fight inside the Octagon again, it could be his last UFC outing.
