The Cardinals’ dominance over the Cowboys is one of the biggest mysteries in the NFL.
Arizona rallied from a 17-3 deficit after replacing Jacoby Brissett with Gardner Minshew, who led them to a 33-30 overtime win. The Cardinals are 5-0 at AT&T Stadium all-time and have won nine of the last 10 in the series.
Both teams are 3-5.
The Cowboys still have not won back-to-back games since last November, and they will leave the stadium Sunday knowing they gave one away.
The Cardinals lost left tackle Jayden Williams (knee), running back Jeremiyah Love (ankle), running back Bam Knight (concussion) and wide receiver Kendrick Bourne (ankle). Wide receiver Reggie Virgil was injured when he ran into the goal post with 2:16 left in the fourth quarter.
Minshew replaced Brissett with 1:35 remaining in the third quarter, and he led them to four touchdowns on his first four drives. His 13-yard touchdown throw to Michael Wilson tied the game 30-30 with 6 seconds left in the fourth quarter, but Chad Ryland missed his first extra point since 2024.
That sent the game to overtime, and neither team scored on its first possession. The Cardinals went 44 yards on eight plays on their second overtime possession, and Ryland redeemed himself with a 42-yard game-winner.
The Cardinals outgained the Cowboys 467 to 261, with Minshew going 17-of-23 for 188 yards and three touchdowns. Tyler Allgeier, the only healthy running back available for the Cardinals after Love and Knight left, had 11 carries for 147 yards and a touchdown. He also caught five passes for 44 yards and a touchdown.
Wilson had eight catches for 111 yards and a touchdown, and tight end Trey McBride added seven catches for 72 yards and a touchdown.
Dak Prescott was 19-of-29 for 195 yards and a touchdown, with CeeDee Lamb catching seven passes for 58 yards. Javonte Williams ran for 56 yards on 24 carries.
The Cowboys had a chance to put the game away with 2:07 remaining in the fourth quarter, but they couldn’t run out the time and they didn’t score a touchdown. Brandon Aubrey kicked a 41-yard field goal with 1:09 left, leaving plenty of time for the Minshew, who is a good bet to win NFC Offensive Player of the Week honors.
