This week the Raiders head to the Bay Area for a game for the first time since they left Oakland six years ago. It's the old Battle of the Bay against their former rival San Francisco 49ers. It should be a good game. Here are the picks by the Raiders Wire staff.
The Las Vegas Raiders will encounter a San Francisco 49ers offense that is firing on all cylinders right now. There's no reason to believe this struggling defense will match up nicely with Kyle Shanahan's unit.
The 49ers run the ball well and Raiders can't stop the run. Also the 49ers defensive front is good and will cause problems for the Raiders. Las Vegas will compete tough but San Franciso will pull away late.
Cousins and Bowers keep it closer than people think through the air. But a run defense giving up 5.1 yards a carry against a rested Shanahan team coming off a bye is asking for trouble. Raiders cover, Niners win.
Five straight games the Raiders have given up at least 30 points. The two worst instances were against good teams that had a bunch of injuries that looked like they would struggle to put up points. Those games were the Patriots and Rams. And in both cases, the Raiders defenese got shellacked. They even gave up 33 points to the Jets. So, I don't see any real difference here, even with the 49ers set to be without top receiver Mike Evans and possible two other key receivers as well. The difference here is the 49ers defense is better, so I see the Raiders stumbling in this one.
