Kevin Kisner has explained just how impressive he found Paige Spiranac to be during the Internet Invitational, noting how well she read the matchplay situations across the event.

It was no surprise to see Paige Spiranac involved in the second Internet Invitational. She is undoubtedly one of the biggest names in the YouTube golf space. And she was also involved in one of the most controversial moments during the inaugural event last year.

Spiranac was called out for pressing down long grass around her team’s ball during the final. The 33-year-old insisted that she had no idea that she was breaking a rule, and her team lost that particular hole anyway. But it definitely led to some awkward moments over the next few holes.

With three episodes released from this year’s event, it is safe to say that Spiranac has been one of the most impressive performers so far, with Kevin Kisner singling her out for praise.

Kisner has been a supporting character in this year’s event, providing rulings and even being made available to hit one shot for each pairing during the second day’s play.

And while reflecting on the tactics the respective teams have used on the Fore Play Podcast, Kisner suggested that Spiranac has put all of her peers to shame.

Should Bryson DeChambeau be allowed back on the PGA Tour unpunished?

“To be honest, if I had one takeaway from the entire Internet Invitational, Paige Spiranac completely fooled me. She’s smart as s—. She had it all figured out. She was playing chess when y’all were playing checkers. I was watching her like a champ over there, and she had the whole thing summed up. I was so impressed with Paige, really impressed. Insane,” he said.

“She’s a good golfer, but she also knows how to play the game. She knows how to figure out the pairings, knows how to talk s— when she needs to talk s—, knows how to do the whole thing. I was sitting back there behind Dave and Big Cat one time and I’m like, ‘she’s running circles around us. Y’all got to watch out for her’.”

The PGA Tour clearly could learn from the success of the Internet Invitational

It is difficult not to be impressed by how the event has taken off. Episode three, which dropped on Monday, has already received 5.8 million views at the time of writing.

Obviously, some fans of the game will never care for YouTube golf. The presentation is very different to what you will see at a PGA Tour event.

But those who did watch would have been hooked by the drama, particularly towards the end of episode two when the matches went right down to the wire.

When you compare the Internet Invitational to the Creator Classic – the PGA Tour’s attempt to embrace the rising popularity of YouTube golf – there is no contest whatsoever.

Those at Ponte Vedra would certainly be wise to take a look at the Internet Invitational and at least consider what they are getting so right with their event.
