The Miami Dolphins entered the weekend with three players listed as questionable for their matchup with the Detroit Lions at Hard Rock Stadium in Week 9.
Now, on Sunday morning, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport is reporting that one of them, running back Jaylen Wright, won't play against the Lions. Wright has been battling a quad injury for the last two weeks.
The 23-year-old former fourth-round pick has been Miami's backup running back and top kickoff returner since De'Von Achane suffered a season-ending torn ACL early in the season. He's rushed for just 41 yards on an abysmal 1.9 yards per carry this year, but he's also averaging 27.6 yards per return on special teams.
For the matchup with the Lions, the Dolphins will rely on Ollie Gordon II as the bell-cow back. Kaytron Allen, whom Miami claimed off waivers, will be the backup, and Carlos Washington Jr. is up from the practice squad to help out as well.
