Broncos vs. Cardinals: 5 things Denver fans should know about Arizona’s squad

The Denver Broncos (4-2) are heading into Week 7 of the 2026 season against the Arizona Cardinals (2-4) in the desert. The Broncos are playing their final NFC West opponent of the season, while the Cardinals are playing their second AFC West opponent.

Arizona and Denver are coming off big wins against the Los Angeles Rams and Seattle Seahawks, respectively, and both teams know how big every win is at this point in the year. As such, we asked Cards Wire editor Jess Root five questions about Arizona and their squad ahead of the Week 7 matchup.

1. The Cardinals went through a contract dispute with QB Jacoby Brissett earlier this offseason. How is the move panning out in 2026?

I mean, he's the starting quarterback and he's not terrible. It has allowed them to make sure that rookie Carson Beck is ready before being thrown to the wolves after only playing a little more than one half of a preseason game.

Brissett has not been as productive as he was last season, but he did generate his first game-winning drive in 18 starts, and he is 3-15 as a starter. He deserved a raise, especially since he was going to be the clear No. 1, but the whole thing was weird.

2. What message did the Cardinals send with the trade of Marvin Harrison Jr. to Houston?

The message was that he wasn't a fit anymore. He needed a change of role and scenery, and his presence and lack of targets resulted in a lot of fan noise. However, it is going to be a lose-lose scenario for GM Monti Ossenfort. If Harrison balls out in Houston and becomes the stud his talent suggests, it was a terrible deal and shows how bad the team is at developing players. If he is a bust, well, he got a good return, but it meant that he drafted a huge bust at No. 4.

3. Who is an underrated player that Broncos Country should be aware of going into Week 7?

The Cardinals don't have any real defenders worth talking about, but keep an eye on running back Bam Knight. He will get plenty of playing time with rookie Jeremiyah Love expected to miss this week. Knight had 98 yards from scrimmage last week, rushing for 80 yards, including a 31-yarder.

4. What is the biggest strength of the Cardinals? The biggest weakness?

The Cardinals move the ball pretty well between the 20s and are great at possessing the football. They also somehow are the best in the league in fourth-down stops on defense.

But there are many weaknesses. They are bad in the red zone. They have a lack in big plays both in the passing game and run game. Aside from last week, their defense has been pretty bad, except for maybe a quarter a game.

5. Who wins, final score and why?

I want to say the Cardinals build on their win over the Rams, but I fear the win says more about the Rams and their season than the Cardinals. They will struggle with the Broncos' pass rush. Broncos 24, Cardinals 20.
