Régis Le Bris gets official Sunderland vote of confidence to keep on doing great job

It has now been revealed that Régis Le Bris has been told by Sunderland he has their full support and will continue in the job.

It looked like the writing was on the wall when rock bottom Sunderland were outplayed and outclassed by second bottom Coventry City on Saturday, lucky to only lose 3-1. The Sky Blues now four points clear of hapless Sunderland.

However, Sky Sports report that they have had official confirmation that Régis Le Bris has been informed his job is safe.

Keith Downie covers Sunderland and Newcastle United for Sky Sports and he states: “Régis Le Bris’ position as Sunderland Head Coach is safe and he continues to have the full support and confidence of Sunderland’s hierarchy. The Frenchman remains central to Sunderland plans and ambitions, despite the club sitting bottom of the Premier League table. The belief within the club is the 50-year-old will turn things around.”

Sunderland have lost five and drawn one of their last six Premier League matches and their late (no) consolation goal on Saturday came after more than six hours of league football without scoring.

Sunderland have now picked up only two points from their last possible 21 and their only Premier League victory over the season was back in August, a lucky late 1-0 home win over Fulham.

The man from Sky Sports adding about what they have heard from inside Sunderland AFC: “There is an internal recognition that recent Premier League results have been disappointing and the club understand current frustrations felt by supporters. The club believe stability, collective responsibility and a united approach is the way forward for Sunderland as they look to achieve their ambitions….”

Yes, Régis Le Bris is doing a great job at Sunderland and hopefully they will keep faith with him as they continue to lose many more matches.

After losing so convincingly to the club that was second bottom, in the Premier League Sunderland now face Chelsea (home), Aston Villa (away), Spurs (home) and Liverpool (away). Before then heading to St James’ Park on Sunday 6 December to face Newcastle United. Whether Régis Le Bris will still have by that point the full backing of the Sunderland hierarchy remains to be seen…
