The Longhorns injury news just got worse. A new report from Anwar Richardson of Orangebloods suggests Texas might be without starting running back Hollywood Smothers and cornerback Graceson Littleton for the rest of the season.
If true, it's a big blow to the Longhorns' College Football Playoff chances and to coach Steve Sarkisian. But Smothers and Littleton weren't the only injuries in Saturday's 31-3 win over Mississippi State.
"Graceson Littleton didn't finish the game," Sarkisian said after the win. "Cam Coleman didn't finish the game. Kade Phillips didn't finish the game. Hollywood Smothers didn't finish the game. Ryan Wingo didn't finish the game. All integral parts to the team. The severity of all those guys is unknown at the moment. … We'll have a better gage midweek of just where everybody is and just what that looks like."
Sources tell Richardson that Smothers has severe shoulder and knee injuries. Littleton also has a knee injury. Both could be lost for the rest of the year. They would join offensive tackle Trevor Goosby as Longhorns whose 2026 season is over.
Orangebloods also says wide receiver Cam Coleman suffered a shoulder injury against the Bulldogs. He was in street clothes on the sideline in a sling at the end of the game Saturday night. His status for the Missouri game is currently questionable.
Fellow wide receiver Ryan Wingo also sustained a shoulder injury. The severity of the damage will need further testing. Phillips could miss up to a month with a groin injury.
Of course, All-American EDGE Colin Simmons has missed two games with a high-ankle sprain. At one point last week, Simmons was listed as questionable for the Hail State game. But he was downgraded to out later in the week.
