Madison Prep quarterback Jacobe Shannon Jr. runs toward the end zone for a touchdown against St. Michael on Thursday, October 22, 2026, at St. Michael the Archangel High School.

When Madison Prep needed its defense to step up against St. Michael, the unit answered the call.

The Chargers allowed only an early field goal and held St. Michael to 99 total yards in a 30-3 win at Warrior Stadium.

Madison Prep also forced three turnovers and got two safeties.

Madison Prep's stingy defense helped the Chargers defeat St. Michael 30-3 on Thursday night at Warrior Stadium.

“We can be stingy when we want to be,” coach Landry Williams said about his defense. “We believe in our guys. Holding each other accountable, and rallying together as a team.”

Meanwhile the Madison Prep offense had its way, particularly on the ground with 343 yards rushing.

Quarterback Jacobe Shannon found a hole to the right on the game’s first play and exploded for a 67-yard touchdown run. He finished with 142 yards passing on 13-of-16 attempts with an interception. Shannon also rushed for two TDs.

St. Michael (6-2) answered with a field goal on its next drive.

Madison Prep (6-2) struggled to finish on drives in the first half. Four of its six first-half drives started either at midfield or in St. Michael territory. The Chargers reached the red zone midway through the first, but consecutive sacks by Champ Williams and a holding call helped St. Michael force a turnover on downs.

Another drive stalled after consecutive false starts forced a punt. The Chargers accumulated 11 penalties through two quarters.

After another punt, Madison Prep reached St. Michael’s 33 before Shannon tossed a pick. The Chargers drove down the field late in the first half but ran out of time as halftime hit.

The only other first-half score came in the second quarter after Madison Prep’s defense swarmed Gavin Romero in the end zone for a safety. St. Michael managed just 54 total yards of offense in the first half. The Chargers led 9-3 at the half.

Madison Prep forced a punt to start the third and then erased its early offensive struggles on its first drive of the second half. The Chargers moved down the field for a touchdown in just four plays. J’on Profit capped off a 76-yard drive with a 26-yard touchdown run.

St. Michael drove past midfield, looking to respond on the ensuing drive. QB Caden Levingston took a hard hit on a scramble and left the game midway through the third. His backup, Cole Vallery, was sacked on second down and threw an interception to Chris Barber on third down.

Madison Prep capitalized with a 9-play, 61-yard drive, capped off by a 22-yard touchdown run after Harlem Turner bulldozed through defenders into the end zone late in the third.

Vallery threw his second interception on the ensuing drive to Landon Johnson. Shannon added an exclamation point with a 24-yard scamper into the end zone to make it 30-3 in the fourth.

Barber caught his second interception of the game, and JaMyris Allen sacked Vallery for a safety in the final minute on St. Michael’s last two drives of the game.
