Bangladesh will face the West Indies in the second and final Test of the 2026 tour at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium from Thursday, November 5. The visitors won the opening match by eight wickets in Dhaka and will look to secure an away series victory, while the hosts need a win to level the contest.
Bangladesh are fifth in the World Test Championship (WTC) standings with 47.6% points percentage after seven matches, while the West Indies occupy eighth place with 26.92% from 13 games. The hosts need to win at least four of their next five Tests to keep their hopes of reaching the top two alive.
Bangladesh will be under pressure to improve their batting after collapsing in the first Test. They scored 272 in the first innings, with Shadman Islam scoring 105. Towhid Hridoy (42) and Litton Das (34) also contributed valuable runs. The bowlers then dismissed the West Indies for 245, taking a 27-run lead.
However, the hosts managed only 142 in their second innings. Nayeem Hasan fought back with a half-century from the lower order, but the target of 170 proved comfortable for the visitors, who won by eight wickets.
Bangladesh's spinners, who took eight wickets in the first innings, failed to claim a wicket during the fourth-innings chase. Najmul Hossain Shanto scored just 19 and 10 in Dhaka but has two Test centuries in Sylhet. Bangladesh will look to end their winless run since beating Australia in a Test in Darwin in August.
The West Indies, meanwhile, will take confidence from their dominant performance in Dhaka. The victory was only their second away Test win in two years. Jomel Warrican took nine wickets in the match, while captain Roston Chase claimed a five-wicket haul.
The visitors also received important contributions from their batters. John Campbell scored 54 and 49 across the two innings, while Tagenarine Chanderpaul made 56. Justin Greaves added 49 and Chase scored 43 before Brandon King sealed the chase with an unbeaten 81.
The West Indies have won two of their 13 matches in the current WTC cycle and will look to build on their recent improvement. The teams have played 23 Tests, with the Caribbean side winning 16, Bangladesh winning five and two ending in draws.
Fans in India can watch the BAN vs WI second Test live on the FanCode app and website. The match will start at 10:00 AM IST (10:30 AM local time) on Thursday, November 5. The toss will take place 30 minutes before the start of play.
The Sylhet International Cricket Stadium usually helps bowlers, especially spinners. However, the pitch offers more pace and bounce than the Dhaka surface, which could help fast bowlers early in the match.
Batting conditions are expected to improve on the second day before the pitch starts to deteriorate. The average second-innings score at the venue is 290. Scoring becomes harder in the fourth innings, with the average dropping to 212.
Teams batting first have won four of the six Tests played at the venue. The captain who wins the toss may choose to bat first and build a strong lead before the pitch becomes harder to bat on.

The weather in Sylhet is expected to remain hot and mostly sunny throughout the second Test. AccuWeather forecasts daytime temperatures of 32°C to 33°C.
The rain threat also appears minimal, with the forecast showing a 0-2% chance of precipitation across the five match days. Mostly sunny or hazy conditions should allow the teams to play without major weather interruptions.
Experienced batter Mushfiqur Rahim, who missed the first Test because of a finger injury, will return to the side. He is expected to replace Mominul Haque, who remains unavailable after suffering a concussion.
There is also a selection decision to make in the pace attack, with Taskin Ahmed and Ebadot Hossain competing for a place as the third seamer.
The West Indies have no major injury concerns, although Kemar Roach could return if the team management opts for an additional fast bowler on the more pace-friendly Sylhet surface.

Shadman Islam vs Jayden Seales
Shadman Islam scored 105 in Dhaka and showed patience against the West Indies fast bowlers. Jayden Seales will look to exploit the extra bounce and movement to challenge Shadman's defence.
Brandon King vs Taijul Islam
Brandon King scored an unbeaten 81 to guide the West Indies to victory. Taijul Islam will need to use the grip available on the Sylhet surface to restrict the right-hander's scoring options.
Mushfiqur Rahim vs Jomel Warrican
Mushfiqur Rahim's return should strengthen Bangladesh's middle order after their batting struggles in Dhaka. Jomel Warrican will look to use his variations and the conditions to trouble the experienced batter.
