Liverpool receive huge international break boost amid growing Rio Ngumoha interest

Liverpool are set to receive an enormous boost in their efforts to tie down Anfield starboy Rio Ngumoha to a long-term contract, despite lurking interest from Bayern Munich.

The Reds have long made clear that any approaches for Ngumoha would be quickly snuffed out on Merseyside, and Liverpool’s grip on the 18-year-old’s future is set to tighten.

The England international was a standout for struggling boss Arne Slot last term, and again for Basque manager Andoni Iraola this season; now, Liverpool appear set to possibly tie down the 18-year-old long-term in the forthcoming international break.

Liverpool to tie down Rio Ngumoha’s long-term future during international break amid Bayern Munich links

According to TEAMtalk, Ngumoha is continuously content at Anfield and has set his sights on establishing a starting spot in Iraola’s line-up.

While the likes of Bayern Munich, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain are all keeping tabs on the England international’s situation, Liverpool’s grip on Ngumoha’s future is becoming increasingly secure.

So much so that, according to TEAMtalk’s report, the Reds could see Ngumoha sign his long-term contract at Anfield as soon as the forthcoming international break, following the Premier League’s next gameweek.

As many will have expected, Liverpool view the 18-year-old, whose former coach told SPORTbible can win the Ballon d’Or, as a European superstar in the making; his current contract runs until 2028.

As a result, securing the Anfield starboy down to a longer-term contract, one that runs past his 20th birthday, is of significant importance to Liverpool’s ambitious project under Iraola.

Ngumoha is expected to put pen to paper as quickly as within the next fortnight; the Reds’ timing offers an enormous boost ahead of the international break, amid lurking interest from the Bundesliga champions.

Fabrizio Romano offers update on Bayern Munich interest in Liverpool starboy Rio Ngumoha

While transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed that Bayern Munich are displaying interest in the Liverpool youngster, he also clarified that, for the Reds, there was “never even an option to negotiate.”

Romano said: “Many of you keep asking me about Bayern because, from Germany, the rumours are coming back regarding Rio Ngumoha and Bayern - Rio [is] attracting interest from Bayern.

“It’s two separate things, guys. One thing is to say that Bayern like Rio, that’s not in doubt,” continued the Italian, speaking via his YouTube channel.

“But if you want me to come here and tell you all the clubs that like players like Rio, like players like Nico Paz… all the top clubs like these players. It’s obvious, these are the best talents in the world.

“So, liking Rio is one thing. Another thing is Liverpool. Liverpool deserve respect in this story. Last summer there were so many stories, so many links between Bayern and Rio - it was a panic.

“No panic for Liverpool. The player was never for sale. Never an option even to negotiate. They didn’t want to indicate a number 50, 60, 70, 80, 100. No. Liverpool didn’t want to negotiate.

“Liverpool want to get a new contract done for Ngumoha as [smoothly] as possible. The conversation is underway. It’s going quite well,” concluded Romano.

Iraola’s men return to Premier League action versus Crystal Palace this Sunday afternoon, before the international break, during which they hope to sign Ngumoha long-term, commences.
