The big news at Bromley was that Andy Woodman had parted ways with the club, announced on Thursday morning after a 4:0 loss at home to Leicester on Tuesday night. Replacing him in the dugout on an interim basis was club legend Byron Webster who made four changes to Tuesday's side. The Ravens started with Michael Cheek up front alongside Victor Adeboyejo, with Kamil Conteh, Jodi Jones and Kamarl Grant also coming into the side for this fixture.
The Bromley faithful were loud as ever, even despite the drama of the week, and the players started just as bright. The midfield three of Saville, Conteh and Hondermarck linking up, before a Cheek lay off to Conteh forced the Peterborough goalkeeper Alex Bass to claim the ball.
But it only took ten minutes for Bromley to take the lead. A Mitch Pinnock free kick wasn't cleared well enough by Peterborough and Michael Cheek was there to claim his first goal at League One level, a simply placed shot that Bass just couldn't stop.
Bromley very nearly had a second, some beautiful open play passes saw an exchange between Pinnock and Hondermarck, the midfielder then being allowed to run down the left and forced a save from the goalkeeper again.
The game remained an open affair, one where both sides threatened but none truly found another gear. Bromley looked a lot quicker but Posh threatened at moments just to keep the game within reach. Robbie Savage's side had chances to score, the best one coming from Lucca Mendonca from a free header but failed to challenge Grant Smith at all with nothing better until the half time whistle.
The opening exchanges of the second half showed Peterborough's intent to claw something back from this game. The away side had the lion's share of possession, as teams tend to do against Bromley, but the Ravens continued to hold the lead as they did against Huddersfield Town. Bromley kept responding with quick, punishing counter attacks but they were being made to work for their opportunities.
Peterborough could have and should have made Bromley pay early in the second half, but the home side were quick to come back with their own dangerous attacks. Jodi Jones in particular put in a cross that required intervention from the away defence to keep the score at 1:0.
Despite all the Peterborough pressure Bromley could have had a second against the run of play. High pressure won them a throw in, George Saville's cross landing on Nicke Kabamba's head and forcing another save down low.
The positivity continued from the Ravens with ten minutes of the second half to play, a Corey Whitely shot forcing a save from Bass, but nothing much from their opposition. Ethan Williams, who had been very important in the first half, was losing his battles against Marcus Ifill, who himself had been having a very good game defensively, and the centre backs Grant and Jackson had stopped Harry Leonard from having a proper chance at goal.
The best chance of the second half fell with three minutes to go, a clearance falling to Kabamba who had two Peterborough defenders on him. The goalkeeper couldn't claim the ball as he drove into the box, but the defence somehow kept it from rolling into an open net.
Despite all the Bromley pressure, Peterborough managed to grab a last minute equaliser in the London rain. Owura Edwards played a beautiful pass through to Vernon Masara to draw the game late on, sitting Grant Smith down and breaking Bromley hearts in the cruelest fashion.
