There will be no pre-game press conference with Ruben Amorim today, as confirmed by Milan’s press office yesterday.
It was hard to miss Amorim’s disappointment and anger after Milan’s defeat to Ferencvaros on Thursday evening, being very honest in his interview after the game. While he took on some of the blame, he criticised the players for not having the right attitude and mentality.
It’s something that has been echoed by others, including the Milan legend Billy Costacurta, who criticised the entire squad for not doing the red and black shirt justice. In any case, the Rossoneri need to get back on the horse on Sunday, taking on Genoa away from home.
As confirmed by Milan’s press office last night, in a message sent directly to us and other news outlets, there won’t be any press conference with Amorim today. It’s something he usually hosts on the eve of each game, but there is a reasonable explanation for the cancellation.
Generally speaking, we are not huge fans of Amorim opting to cancel the press conference, but it comes down to the congested schedule. He spoke to the media before and after the Ferencvaros game, so he didn’t feel like a press conference less than 48 hours later would give much.
It’s not the first time a press conference has been cancelled this season due to that very reason, and it’s something we have seen with other managers at Milan too. In other words, it was kind of expected even if, without a doubt, the journalists would have had questions for Amorim.
