Liverpool have some seriously exciting young talent at their disposal, and it was proven during their win over Villarreal in the Champions League on Tuesday night.

Rio Ngumoha stole the show, supplying two assists, as Liverpool came from 2-0 down to win 4-3, with Andoni Iraola conducting his many, many TV commitments after the game.

TalkingPoints

Rio Ngumoha was the star of the night for Liverpool against Villarreal but how far can he go and what is his ceiling?

Andoni Iraola issues cryptic response about Gilberto Mora and Liverpool

At the time of the World Cup, Mora was only 17 and helping Mexico reach the knockout stages before they were beaten by England in a thrilling encounter.

It was pretty clear that Mora’s stock was going to go through the roof, and many teams were going to showcase their interest in his services.

With Florian Wirtz dividing opinion at Liverpool, it wouldn’t be a surprise if the Reds still add to that part of the pitch in the near future.

While Iraola stated ‘let’s see’ regarding Mora, he still provided a respectful response to the reporter because he didn’t want to talk about another player who doesn’t belong to Liverpool.

Reporter: “Speaking of young players with a lot of quality in Mexico, there’s a lot of uncertainty; there are many questions about the possible interest in Gilberto Mora. What do you think? How true is it that he could join Liverpool, and what do you think of him in general?”

Iraola: “Let’s see, not only because of what he’s doing, there are times when, well, you ask me about players, but I can’t talk about players who aren’t ours, right?

“In the end, there’s respect, right? And there has to be respect between clubs, and well, if you’ll allow me, I prefer not to comment not about players who aren’t from Liverpool.”

What has Mora done since the World Cup?

As you can imagine, the spotlight would have been on Mora more than ever before as soon as he returned to domestic action.

Right now, an ankle injury is keeping the youngster out of action, as Tijuana sit mid-table in Liga MX, with Mora being a star performer.

After getting some time off after the World Cup, Mora scored in his first game back and has scored five goals in total from his seven matches played.

  • Mora since the World Cup: 7 games
  • Goals: 5
  • Assists: 1
  • Total minutes: 498
