Ryan Reynolds has issued a defiant statement celebrating "togetherness" following a week that saw a major departure from Wrexham.

Reynolds and co-owner Rob Mac were in attendance at the Racecourse Ground on Saturday to watch their side play Wolves. The game ended in a 1-1 draw, with Lewis O'Brien grabbing the goal for the Red Dragons following Adam Armstrong's opener.

This week saw the Hollywood duo announce the departure of chief executive Michael Williamson in something of a shock development at the club. They thanked him for his two-year service with the north Wales side, appointing club director Shaun Harvey as acting CEO in the interim.

The announcement prompted a wave of reaction from supporters, many of whom believe there is more to the departure than has been made public.

It followed the recent departure of popular former executive director Humphrey Ker.

Harvey was given a warm welcome by the Wrexham faithful on Saturday and Reynolds says there is a "togetherness" at the club, felt on the pitch and in the stands, while also pointing to the progress of the new Kop which is under development.

"An intense one for @wrexham_afc today," he wrote on Instagram.

"What a show the boys put on. I can’t believe how far along the new Kop stand is. It feels like a living, breathing promise of the greatest days yet to come.

"So much to look forward to… There’s togetherness in the stands and with the boys on the pitch — but more than anything there’s just something about this place. Some of the best days of my life have been spent in this stadium, standing next to @robmac. Today was one of them. Up The Town."

Manager Phil Parkinson says the attendance of the club's owners brings a galvanising effect to everyone at the Racecourse.

"It's always very uplifting, I feel, for the people who work at the club, first of all, the players and the staff when Rob and Ryan come over," he said to the BBC.

"The crowd as well, they're uplifted by the owners being in town.

"I communicate with them when they're back in the States, but equally it's good to have a chat with them when they're over."

"Whatever division we've been in, when Rob and Ryan have been here, I think it's good for the players to see their connection with the club, how much they care and how much they're watching from afar," added Parkinson.

"Since day one we've been in it together. I always say that when we've done well and have got promoted, how everybody at this club has got this enormous togetherness and that starts from the very top."
