Turnovers are one of the many things that have been plaguing Penn State during its four-game losing streak. The team has turned the ball over seven times in total during that span, with quarterback Rocco Becht accounting for six all by himself.
Of the six giveaways, he has five interceptions, and it’s something he’ll need to remain weary of against the Purdue Boilermakers. Cornerback Donovan Saunders is one of the more versatile players the Nittany Lions have faced so far, totaling 37 tackles, three tackles for loss, three passes defensed, and an interception this season.
He can impact the running game with run stuffs, shut down the passing game with plays on the ball, and give his team a spark with a score. The lone interception Saunders has this season was taken back for a touchdown.
After appearing in only nine games in the past two seasons at different schools, the senior has already played in seven games this year and has become one of Purdue’s most important defenders. Becht and the rest of Penn State’s offense need to identify Saunders on every play, or else they could be staring at another loss with multiple turnovers.
