Another retired WWE PLE to be brought back: Three shows NXT could revive in 2027 after TLC return announcement
It is official, WWE’s TLC premium live event will be making a return before the end of the year when NXT hosts its first iteration of the show on Saturday, December 12. NXT has become known for reviving dormant PLEs from years gone by, with Halloween Havoc, Great American Bash and No Mercy being a few notable examples. Advertisement While TLC will be the final PLE of the year for NXT, 2027 could see this trend continue when even more old PLEs are brought back from the dead. Here are three more retired WWE PLEs we could see return on NXT in 2027: Extreme Rules The final instalment of WWE Extreme Rules came in October 2022. When Triple H took charge of WWE creative, one of the changes he made over time was lessening the amount of gimmick PLEs on the company’s schedule. Advertisement Vince McMahon became quite fond of these types of shows throughout the 2010s, with match types such as Hell in a Cell, TLC and even Fatal 4 Way getting their own dedicated events. Another example of this was Extreme Rules, which in its original One Night Stand form was one of the better examples of a gimmick show, as every match on the card had a different match type. Eventually this would change however, and only some of the matches had ‘Extreme’ stipulations, and even when they did, they all felt similar due to WWE’s formulaic approach to hardcore matches in the PG era. Few would expect NXT to deviate far from that formula, but Extreme Rules’ return could be warranted if the brand at least embraces the event’s original vision and puts on a card with different match types throughout. Advertisement Taboo Tuesday or Cyber Sunday Taboo Tuesday and Cyber Sunday were events themed around a fan vote, with viewers choosing which superstars would receive title opportunities and what stipulations would be implemented throughout the card. The concept was ahead of its time and always felt like a winning idea in today’s social media dominated world, yet WWE have not brought it back. Fan voting may very well be something we see soon in the inaugural John Cena Classic, so perhaps if that event goes well, WWE can embrace this concept more in 2027 by bringing back Taboo Tuesday or Cyber Sunday on the NXT brand. Advertisement Bad Blood WWE Bad Blood was an old fan favorite event that was resurrected by WWE in October 2024 for use on the main roster, and famously gave fans one of WWE’s all-time best Hell in a Cell matches between CM Punk and Drew McIntyre. Despite the event being welcomed back, by 2025 it was gone from the company’s schedule again, with Wrestlepalooza instead being introduced in that same fall slot. Wrestlepalooza is returning once again this December, so it appears as if the only chance Bad Blood may have of coming back is on NXT. Advertisement Serving as an appropriate stage for NXT’s most bitter rivals to settle their scores, Bad Blood would be a popular addition to WWE’s third brand.
