The Minnesota Vikings made another change to their backfield on Wednesday, five days before they host the Buffalo Bills on Monday Night Football.
To make room for Jordan Mason coming off injured reserve in late October, the Vikings released running back DeeJay Dallas from the 53-man roster, then signed him to the practice squad.
Now, Dallas has his roster spot back after the Vikings signed him from the practice squad to the active 53-man roster on Wednesday, after he exhausted his elevations against the Lions. They also made the signing of tackle Corey Robinson II to the practice squad official.
Dallas never left the game-day lineup while he was on the practice squad. The MN Vikings elevated him for the 16-10 win over the Colts on Oct. 25 and again for the 19-15 loss in Detroit on Nov. 1.
In seven games this season, the former Miami Hurricane has four carries for 14 yards and four catches for 34 yards. Last week against the Lions, he played 17 snaps but only carried the ball one time (4 yards). The Vikings used him a lot in pass pro (8 of his 17 snaps per PFF).
The 28-year-old is in his seventh NFL season. Seattle drafted him in the fourth round in 2020 out of Miami. He has also played for the Cardinals, Panthers and Jaguars.
In 91 career games, DeeJay Dallas has 128 carries for 552 yards and four touchdowns, plus 68 catches for 441 yards and two scores. Much of his value has come on special teams. Dallas has 89 career kick returns for 2,254 yards, including a 96-yard touchdown with Arizona in 2024.
Dallas rejoins Aaron Jones, Jordan Mason and Demond Claiborne in the running back room. In the loss to Detroit, Dallas got more snaps than Mason, who had eight carries for 20 yards. Jones took five handoffs for 22 yards, and Claiborne did not get a touch.
Meanwhile, we’ll wait for Thursday’s injury report. Aaron Jones played against the Lions after being listed as day-to-day with a knee injury following the Colts game. As a team, the Vikings are averaging 113.9 rushing yards per game and 4.0 yards per carry, which rank 17th and tied for 21st in the league, respectively.
The Vikings host the Bills on Nov. 9 at 7:15 p.m. CT.
