Andoni Iraola has admitted Florian Wirtz could feature against Chelsea in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday. The Liverpool star was forced off with an ankle injury during Sunday's 2-0 Premier League win over Brighton, but he looks to have avoided a significant issue.
Dominik Szoboszlai and Victor Munoz missed out entirely this past weekend with Iraola admitting on Tuesday afternoon that both are expected to be absent again. The summer signing has a knee injury while Szoboszlai aggravated a thigh complaint in the win over Brentford earlier this month.
Jeremie Frimpong was also forced off in that victory at the Gtech Community Stadium while Giovanni Leoni and Hugo Ekitike are the long-term absentees. Chelsea head to Anfield with some injury problems of their own with Reece James, Emiliano Martinez and now Joao Pedro ruled out.
With all of that being said, The Echo have rounded up the latest on Liverpool's injured stars and when they could return.
Wirtz twisted his ankle and was substituted midway through the game against Brighton. Both he and Iraola spoke on the injury after the win - playing down that it was serious and that he could even return just a few days later.
What Iraola has said: "We still have to wait. We train later. Florian was quite fine and optimistic he would be available.
Potential return date: Chelsea (H) - Wednesday, October 28
Due to a tight hamstring, Szoboszlai missed the defeat to Manchester City but returned the following weekend against Brentford. The same problem saw him withdrawn early into that game and will most likely keep him out for a bit longer.
What Iraola has said: "With Dom and Victor I'm not so sure. I don't want to say no but I think it's more difficult than Florian."
Potential return date: Fenerbahce (A) - Wednesday, November 4.
Munoz has missed Liverpool's last two matches and could miss a third in succession with Iraola unsure if he will feature in the two games this week.

Victor Munoz is still dealing with an injury

Frimpong picked up a muscular injury earlier this month and is expected to be out until after the November international break but could feature in some capacity against Crystal Palace before the domestic pause.
What Iraola has said: "Jeremie is obviously a new muscle injury, and it happened, I think, in the second or third minute that he was playing - difficult to predict. We will have to wait until he recovers, but it's going to be difficult, I think, before the break - we will try."
Potential return date: Manchester United (H) - Sunday, November 22.
Ekitike tore his Achilles back in April and is expected to be out until next year but he is progressing well, as per Iraola.
What Iraola has said: " Hugo is a little bit behind [Bradley], but that was always the plan. He is still doing very well... It’s difficult [to give a timescale] when they've been injured for so long."
Potential return date: January 2027
Bradley is also in the process of rehabbing from a long-term issue and is ahead of Ekitike in his recovery.
What Iraola has said: "Conor is not so far from training with the group - not full training but doing some things. It’s difficult [to give a timescale] when they've been injured for so long, but I think Conor is not very far from starting doing things with us."
Potential return date: January 2027
Leoni suffered a severe knee injury on his Liverpool debut last September and is still some way off making his return.
What Iraola has said: " It’s taking more time than we wanted. The plan was to train with the team in this past international break [but] probably it’s going to be in the next [one], so we’ve lost one month in the process.
"He has to be very confident; the rehab process has to be very careful with him, and we want to make sure once he comes to the team, he stays in a good place."
Potential return date: January 2027
