Arsenal will look to get back on track in the Premier League following their shock defeat to Fleetwood Town in the Carabao Cup.

The Gunners were eliminated on Wednesday night by the League Two side, losing on penalties, with Bruno Guimaraes seeing his spot kick saved by Jay Lynch. Mikel Arteta's troubles were compounded after Max Dowman's red card appeal was rejected, meaning he will miss the next three games.

The teenager was sent off for a kick out at Harrison Neal towards the end of the game, which prompted a frustrated reaction from the Spaniard. Speaking post-match, Arteta said: "When we prepared the context of the match, we were very clear on the things to respect, the things that emotionally we have to dominate. It was very clear."

Reflecting on the incident further in his pre-Liverpool press conference, he added: "My reaction [during the match against Fleetwood] was in the heat [of the moment] and of frustration as I know the consequences for that and especially for Max. It's something we discussed just before we went out because it's not the first time it's happened as it happened earlier this month with England.

"It will continue to happen with the way he plays and the way he attracts opponents. We have to be protective of him as he is 16 but also very straight with him about what to expect from him towards the team and the club."

Here, football.london has the latest news coming from the red side of north London.

£58m rising talent eyed

Reports in Italy suggest that Arsenal are displaying a 'serious interest' in RB Leipzig's Antonio Nusa. The winger, who carries a £58million valuation, has been linked with a switch to north London as Tutto Mercato states that the Gunners are optimistic they could secure his signature.

Roma are also reported to be keen on the 21-year-old, who has already registered 10 goal contributions in 12 outings so far this campaign. Rival striker Erling Haaland has previously praised Nusa, describing him as "something extraordinary."

After a 4-1 victory over Slovenia in 2024, during which Nusa netted a brace and Haaland also scored, the Norway international and Manchester City star said: "He's something extraordinary. He's delivering at a high level, he's a great talent and he simply has to keep going."

Arteta told to 'move on'

Micah Richards has ordered Arteta to "move on" from Viktor Gyokeres and pursue a replacement in January. The Swede has found the net just once in 11 matches this season and appears to be showing signs of frustration in front of goal.

Speaking on The Rest Is Football podcast, Richards believes the 28-year-old should depart Arsenal to allow "top cover" to arrive in the forthcoming transfer window. He said: "I think one of the major talking points as well is Gyokeres. When he first arrived at Arsenal, I was saying to the Arsenal fans, 'Don't expect him to be scoring 25 and 30 goals.'

"What I really liked about him, he was good at running in behind, but he stopped doing the things that he's really good at. He sort of looks like he has no confidence. I don't know if the reports in the summer that they tried to get rid of him [were true] or not, but essentially he's had enough game time to show what he can do now at Arsenal and it's just not happening for him.

"I think in January, because of the injuries, I definitely think they should go back into the market, and find top cover around."

Richards continued: "Because the way Arsenal play, and everyone talks about they need this player, they need that player, but the reason why they're so good is what the front players do off the ball... so, Saka and Madueke work hard in a system that works for Arsenal.

"Obviously, losing Trossard was a big miss for them in terms of what he does off the ball and how clinical he was with the opportunities given to him. But I think if they want to compete and then, say, dominate, then 100 per cent, I think they need more firepower in that forward area, for sure.

"There are so many times where Gyokeres gets in really good positions, and I don't know if he doesn't back himself, I don't know if it's confidence, I don't know if the team doesn't back him to score, but he just, he doesn't put the ball away. So, then it becomes a problem. And I just feel like he needs one of those opportunities where he plays 90 minutes, he scores, he builds confidence, and it goes from there. Otherwise, you know, they're going to have to look to move him on."
