After their game against AC Milan, Udinese have been fined by the Sporting Judge due to the actions of their fans.
When Milan play Udinese in Udine, you are expecting chants and jeers against Mike Maignan. In fact, it has become one of the worst games in the calendar simply for this reason. Yet, there seems to be no stopping it.
As MilanNews relays, Udinese were fined by the Sporting Judge in the latest set of punishments, with the official statement and reasoning seen below.
“Fine of €3,000.00: to the Udinese club for having, during the match, repeatedly directed offensive chants at a player of the opposing team.”
Of course, the unnamed player is Maignan. Unfortunately, it feels like the punishment will do little to prevent it in the future. As stated, it feels like a horrific ‘constant’ – if that is the way of wording it – that when Milan are in Udine, Maignan will be subjected to this. Unfortunately, it’s come in a week when he’s already faced racist abuse.
Whether the fine will cause further action from the club is unknown, but at least this season’s game in Udine is out of the way. A frustrating situation.
