Cornish Pirates joint head coach Alan Paver says his side's consistency is helping them improve.
The Pirates are fourth in the Champ, having won four of their six games so far this season.
They inflicted a first league defeat in 18 months on Ealing last month before securing a first away win since March when they beat Rotherham on Sunday.
"We've seen significant improvement just simply by keeping the same group together, the core group, and that's not just players, that's also staff," Paver told BBC Radio Cornwall.
"We are performing at a high level, skill levels are better, the guys who have come in and who are new have been able to integrate that much easier because the infrastructure around them is more established.
"We've seen improvement even from game one to game six, so for us we're just going to keep on this trajectory.
"It's never a straight line, it never just keeps getting better, there's always bumps along the way.
"But this this team are hungry to improve and they've definitely got another gear in them."
The Pirates missed out on the play-offs in the previous campaign after finishing in seventh place, eight points off the final post-season spot.
Paver hopes his side can stay in the top six this year and push for the title, and is looking for them to build further momentum in their next block of four matches.
The face Richmond, Caldy, Nottingham and Hartpury - sides who are all in the bottom five.
"We're ambitious," he said.
"We feel we're capable of winning all four. That's not arrogant, but we do feel we've got the players and the infrastructure in place to give each one of those games a really good go.
"We're ambitious to finishing that top six, top four area, and if we're going to do that we need to make sure that we have a strong start, which we have and this next block of four, one down from Rotherham away, is critical to maintaining that momentum."
