Thrilled poacher Ryan Naderi insists he’ll happily stick to scoring close-range tap ins if it means Rangers go the distance at Hampden.

The big Czech international’s 83rd-minute prod sent Derek McInnes’ men through to the Premier Sports Cup final as they edged past Stephen Robinson’s stubborn Aberdeen side.

It was the 23-year-old’s eighth goal in 15 games this season and will rank right up there with his Celtic Park winner in terms of importance.

But as with his other strikes so far, it won’t be troubling the goal of the season judges after he redirected a James Penrice shot-cum-cross past Marius Muller.

But Naderi admitted he’ll happy keep banging them in from close quarters if it ensures his team go all the way and lift the trophy when the campaign’s first showpiece occasion comes around on December 13.

The frontman - whose side will take on the winner of Sunday’s second semi between Hibs and Hearts - said: “It feels amazing

“I'm happy, of course, happy to be the one who scores the goals, but happy for the team.

“I think we deserved it. We believed we could score right up until the very end and we did and I think it's a deserved win.

“I've tried to shoot twice today from outside of the box and it didn't go well!

“So I went back inside the box. Maybe I should just stick to the easy ones!

“As I said, I'm just happy how it is right now and I'm going to try to stick to it.

“I'm happy to be in the right place at the right time.

“I'm OK to call it luck, but I also think I worked hard for it. I'm just happy how it is right now and happy I can help out.

“I always have the feeling that I'm onside.

“Nowadays you never know because of VAR. But yeah, I was confident. I had a feeling like I had a good timing.”

Naderi has already easily surpassed his three-goal contribution last season.

A £5million deadline day signing from Hansa Rostock, former boss Danny Rohl had hoped the German-born hitman would provide the firepower that would blast his team to Premiership gold.

But he struggled to steal the limelight off Youssef Chermiti as Gers fell short against title rivals Celtic and Hearts.

His chances of starting this term looked to have taken a further dip when Jambos skipper Lawrence Shankland made the move to Ibrox.

But with both his strike rivals suffering cruel injury blows, Naderi has stepped up to fill the goalscoring void.

He said: “Yeah, this is part of football, part of the luck that I have right now.

"Unfortunately, it took Youssef and for Shanks to be ruled out.

“I'm trying my best to just help the team out.

“I think it's up to the team to somehow manage to replace those two, who are unbelievable. I'm just happy that we're winning at the moment and how things are going.

“I don’t think much has changed [with my role]. As I said, maybe a bit of luck came to it that my positioning also improved.

“As I've said, it's improvement always from the beginning.

"Of course, you come to such a big club and it's not as easy, but I've always tried to stick to what I'm good at.

“That's just having a feeling for where the ball can drop and just be in the right place.

“As I said, I'm just happy how it is and I'm happy I can somehow help the team.”

Naderi’s scrappy winner was in keeping with the ragged run of play as the determined Dons did everything they could to disrupt Rangers attacking forays.

“I mean it's a semi-final,” said the match-winner. “No matter who you play against, they're gonna throw in everything.

“They're gonna try to defend with every man. Also a big compliment to them because they did well. They threw themselves into everything and made it difficult for us to score.

“But as I said, we kept going, pushing for that goal and as I said, I think it's a deserved win.”

Gers are now waiting to see which of their Edinburgh opponents they will face in the final.

But Naderi declared: “Yes, we will definitely come here to win that thing, not to lose it. We’ve come this far so we want be there standing with the trophy in our hands.”
