The Chicago Bears made another statement on the prime-time stage with a dominant 34-17 win over the defending Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks to improve to 6-2 on the season, where the team's biggest playmakers, quarterback Caleb Williams and new defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons, shined.
Simmons' debut with Chicago couldn't have gone better, as he tied for a team-high six tackles, including two tackles for loss, one sack, one QB hit and one pass breakup in what was a sensational defensive showing. He opened up things for players around him, most notably former college teammate Montez Sweat, who had one sack and three QB hits. Simmons is already proving to be worth those two first-round picks (and perhaps more).
Meanwhile, Williams cemented himself in the MVP conversation after putting on a show against a dominant Seahawks defense. He completed 24-of-34 passes for 247 yards with one touchdown, no turnovers and a 101 passer rating. Williams became the first quarterback to throw for more than 200 yards against this Seattle defense this season.
In the last two weeks, Chicago has beaten the defending AFC Champions (New England Patriots) and reigning Super Bowl champions (Seahawks). This was the kind of statement win that shows that this Bears team is a legitimate Super Bowl contender, and fans from around the NFL agree.
