Troy Deeney has picked his best 12 performers from the top tier action.

The Premier League team of the weekend (and manager) that have most impressed him.

Included in his dozen choices is one from Newcastle United.

This NUFC player was key to the control United had on this match, especially after the break.

Newcastle United winning 2-0 away against Crystal Palace.

Troy Deeney explains why he has chosen Nico Gonzalez for his Premier League team of the week and then the full eleven (twelve) are listed below:

“Gonzalez might be the best signing that Newcastle have made, because they’ve got all these young players that have got pace, speed, good in the wide areas. The manager wants it to be like the the Red Bull [Salzburg] team of old, which is sprinting more and all of that fun stuff. You need someone that can just control the game, one and two touch, and Nico Gonzalez absolutely does that. I thought he was exceptional.”

I agree with Troy Deeney.

Like the team generally, Nico Gonzalez has experienced the highs and lows this season.

Newcastle United have now won all three matches in London under Matthias Jaissle and just as was the case at Tottenham and Millwall, the former Manchester City midfielder was at the heart of this important victory at Crystal Palace.

As the BBC Sport pundit points out, Nico Gonzalez has qualities that help other players in this Newcastle United team to look their best.
