The route for the 2027 Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift Grand Départ in Leeds has been revealed, bringing the world’s leading women’s cycle race back to Yorkshire.
The announcement will recall the excitement of 2014, when Harrogate hosted the finish of the opening stage of the men’s Tour de France, attracting huge crowds and international attention to the town and the wider region.
Leeds will host the start of stage one of the women’s race on 30 July 2027, marking the first time the event has visited Britain.
The full route through Leeds has now been published, identifying the streets where spectators will be able to watch the riders before they head west towards Manchester.
The riders will set off from the Headrow in Leeds city centre before travelling along roads including Boar Lane, Infirmary Street and Westgate. They will then head towards Headingley via Woodhouse Lane, Hyde Park Corner and Otley Road, before travelling west along North Lane and Kirkstall Lane.
The route will continue through Kirkstall, Bramley, Farnley and Drighlington, with riders crossing into Kirklees before heading over the Pennines towards Manchester.
Residents and businesses along the route are expected to receive further information about road closures and traffic management as preparations continue. Leeds City Council has said it will issue updates and arrange opportunities for people to find out more about the event.
The race will continue from Manchester to Sheffield on 31 July, before finishing in London on 1 August.
Harrogate played a prominent role in the 2014 Tour de France Grand Départ, when the town hosted the finish of stage one. The event brought international television coverage and large crowds to Harrogate, with an estimated two million spectators lining the wider Yorkshire route during the race.
The 2014 event helped establish Yorkshire as a major destination for international cycling, with Harrogate at the centre of the opening day’s celebrations.
Leeds will make sporting history in 2027 by becoming the first place outside mainland Europe to host the start of stage one of a Grand Départ for both the men’s Tour de France and the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift.
The men’s 2027 Tour de France will also begin in the UK, with stages scheduled from 2 to 4 July and visits to cities including Edinburgh, Carlisle, Liverpool and Cardiff.
The routes for both 2027 races were announced at an official presentation in Paris on 22 October 2026.
Further information about the women’s race and its Leeds route is available through the official route map.
