Jai Moondra broke the record for the best figures in ODI cricket by an Irish cricketer, helping his side storm back into the series against Namibia in style. Moondra's 6 for 26 wrecked Namibia by 130 runs in the fourth ODI, giving Ireland series parity. As a result, the scoreline is now 2-2 with the decider scheduled to be played on Sunday (November 1).

On a high after winning the previous two games, Namibia opted to bowl first in search of a series-clinching win. Ireland did make a watchful start with JJ Smit eventually getting rewarded with the wicket of Andrew Balbirnie, who edged it to first slip. Ruben Trumpelmann then came back into the attack to castle Cade Carmichael, putting Ireland under further pressure. After 15 overs, Ireland's run rate was hovering just above three and needed a push. Tim Tector, who was struggling up until that point, finally got going, hitting three fours in three overs before slamming another four and a six. With Harry Tector struggling at the other end, Ireland were heavily depended on Tim in the middle overs.

Tim responded in style with successive sixes but Smit struck again to put the visitors on the backfoot. The innings witnessed a change in momentum only towards the end when Curtis Campher and George Dockrell turned on the heat with a six each. The two batters kept finding the boundary regularly in the slog overs. In the process, Campher helped himself to another fifty, having already smashed a rapid ton in the previous game. Campher finally departed for 66 but a couple of sixes down the order from Jordan Neill ensured the momentum didn't slip. Despite the slow start, the visitors managed to score 101 runs from the final ten overs, powering them to 298/8.

Having gone past 300 in the previous two games, the hosts would have backed themselves to hunt down 299. However, Moondra struck thrice in his opening spell, getting rid of the Namibian top order to reduce them to 32/3. With Jan Frylinck gone, the onus was on skipper Gerhard Erasmus to bail his side out of trouble, having contributed significantly in Namibia's victories in the series. However, wickets kept tumbling for the hosts with Campher also opening his account. Liam McCarthy then got the big fish by trapping Erasmus leg-before-wicket although the Namibian skipper wasn't happy with the verdict.

At 45/5, the contest was as good as done. Zane Green and Jan Nicol Loftie-Eaton tried to delay the inevitable but Ireland eventually kept chipping away. After the drinks break, Moondra came back into the attack to deliver the final blow. He first castled Green for 45 before completing his five-wicket haul by rearranging Trumpelmann's stumps. The cherry on the cake was the sixth wicket off the final ball of his spell that also brought the contest to a close to put the home side out of their misery.

Brief scores: Ireland 298/8 in 50 overs (Tim Tector 73, Curtis Campher 66; JJ Smit 4-34) beat Namibia 168 in 41 overs (Zane Green 45; Jai Moondra 6-26) by 130 runs
