Nick Woltemade only started one competitive match at Juventus in his first six weeks at the club after moving on loan from Newcastle United at the start of September.

Yet Big Nick bizarrely made the scapegoat for the poor start to the Juventus league season as they won only three of seven Serie A matches, none of which the Newcastle United loan star started…

Moving on, Juventus have now played 14 matches in all competitions.

The most recent of those games was last night.

Juventus away at AZ Alkmaar and Nick Woltemade putting in another excellent performance and providing a quality assist for the winning goal, the Serie A club winning 2-1 to go fifth top in the 36-club Europa League table.

Reporting on his performance, Goal gave Nick Woltemade a 7/10 rating and stated: ‘An effective link-player, Woltemade claimed a deserved assist for Kolo Muani’s goal. His height and strength allowed Juventus to play long when under pressure, acting as a reliable outlet to hold the ball up.’

In four Europa League matches the Newcastle United loan star now has five direct goal contributions, scoring three and providing two assists.

The overall Juventus results this season make stunning reading where Nick Woltemade is concerned, it is almost as though there is a pattern forming…

Hopefully we will now see Nick Woltemade be a regular for Juventus in both Europe and Serie A. A successful loan season to help progress a striker who had made a very limited number of starts at top league level in Germany before joining Newcastle United. United would then have the choice of looking to get Big Nick back into the Newcastle United team, or alternatively getting a very healthy transfer fee to help finance other recruitment.
