Texas A&M vs. South Carolina - What is the Aggies' series record?

Texas A&M returns from its bye week Saturday, traveling to Columbia to face No. 23 South Carolina at Williams-Brice Stadium in a matchup between two teams heading in different directions.

The Aggies enter the contest 4-4 overall and 1-4 in SEC play following a 31-20 loss to Alabama on Oct. 24. Texas A&M has dropped four of its last six games and is still searching for its first road victory of the season. Meanwhile, South Carolina enters 5-3 after winning three of its last four games, including victories over ranked Tennessee and Oklahoma.

Despite owning a commanding advantage in the all-time series, Texas A&M has struggled in recent trips to Columbia. The Aggies have lost their last two games at Williams-Brice Stadium, including a 44-20 defeat in 2024. However, last season's historic comeback victory gives the Aggies something positive to build on.

Here is a look at the series history between Texas A&M and South Carolina.

Texas A&M vs. South Carolina series history

What happened in the last matchup?

Texas A&M entered its 2025 matchup against South Carolina ranked No. 3 nationally but faced a seemingly impossible situation after falling behind 30-3 at halftime.

The Aggies responded with one of the most memorable comebacks in program history, scoring 28 unanswered points in the second half to secure a 31-30 victory at Kyle Field. Quarterback Marcel Reed delivered a career performance, throwing for 439 yards, including 316 in the second half, as Texas A&M erased the 27-point deficit.

The comeback surpassed the previous school record of 21 points, established during the Aggies' 52-48 victory over Duke in the 2013 Chick-fil-A Bowl. Texas A&M's defense shut out South Carolina after halftime while Reed led the offense on four touchdown drives to complete the historic comeback.

Texas A&M – South Carolina football series history

Texas A&M and South Carolina first met in 2014, two years after the Aggies joined the SEC. The matchup was the first football game televised on the SEC Network, with Texas A&M upsetting No. 9 South Carolina 52-28 in Columbia.

The Aggies dominated the early series, winning eight consecutive meetings from 2014 through 2021. That stretch included a 48-3 victory in Columbia in 2020, Texas A&M's most recent road win against the Gamecocks. South Carolina broke through in 2022, defeating Texas A&M 30-24 at Williams-Brice Stadium. The Aggies responded with a 30-17 victory in 2023 before the Gamecocks earned their second series win, 44-20, in 2024.

Since 2022, the programs have traded victories, with the home team winning each matchup. Texas A&M remains unbeaten against South Carolina at Kyle Field but has not won in Columbia since 2020. Saturday presents an opportunity to end that road losing streak and extend its overall series advantage.
