The Old Albanian Saints (OA Saints) were hit by an “unexpected delay” on Wednesday evening.

According to the team's chair, Wellie Clark, more than 20 cows wandered onto the Woollam Playing Fields as they ran drills ahead of their matchup with Bath Ladies on Saturday.

The players swapped their rugby boots for cow herding

"We arrived for training as usual around 6.30pm just as the sun was setting and found we were sharing our fields with some rather unexpected visitors, with the herd spreading across much of the playing area," Wellie said.

"We put training on hold and the squad swapped their rugby boots for an impromptu spot of cow herding."

Several Saints guided the herd back towards the farm, cleared the pitches and eventually resumed training.

"It was a pretty unusual build-up to this weekend’s match, I guess best-laid plans and all that!" Wellie laughed.

The OA Saints are the women's and girls' rugby section of the Old Albanian RFC.

The team currently apply their trade in the Women's Championship South 1. To find out more visit https://www.oarugby.com/teams/274036
