CM Punk and Kevin Owens are preparing for another singles showdown on WWE SmackDown, but their upcoming encounter will now have a different level of intensity.
WWE has officially changed the stipulation for their November 6 clash, giving both former champions considerably more freedom to settle their differences.
The announcement came during the October 30 episode of SmackDown, when WWE confirmed that the two rivals would compete under a No Holds Barred stipulation.
The change means the usual restrictions of a standard singles contest will no longer apply. Both wrestlers can use weapons and take the fight outside the ring without worrying about disqualification, potentially making this one of the more physical encounters on the upcoming broadcast.
Punk and Owens last met in singles competition on the August 21 episode of SmackDown, where Owens challenged Punk for the Undisputed WWE Championship. Their rivalry has continued since then, with tensions between the two remaining unresolved.
Both men have established themselves as competitors who aren’t afraid to get physical when personal issues enter the picture. The newly announced stipulation gives them an opportunity to take their rivalry beyond the boundaries of a traditional wrestling match.
For Owens, the November 6 contest presents another opportunity to get the better of Punk. Meanwhile, the former champion will have to be prepared for a fight where conventional rules won’t offer much protection.
With WWE removing the usual restrictions, neither competitor will have many excuses once the opening bell rings. Punk and Owens already have unfinished business, and this time, there will be no holding back when they step into the ring.
