Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker is attracting interest from Flamengo, who are considering a move to bring him back to Brazil in 2027.
However, there’s quite a bit going on behind the scenes, and not everyone at the Rio de Janeiro club is convinced. The 34-year-old’s contract at Anfield expires next June, and Flamengo have started discussing whether they should make a move.
Sport Witness have learned that his name has genuinely been raised internally, although there is no agreement on what to do next.
Money is another problem. And Flamengo are also keeping a close eye on Internacional, Alisson’s boyhood club, for reasons that go beyond the transfer market.
Sources close to Flamengo have told Sport Witness that Alisson’s name has been discussed by people involved in the club’s planning.
Some are keen on the idea. They believe his quality, experience and profile would make him an excellent addition. Others are far less enthusiastic, pointing to his age and uninspiring performances for the Brazilian national team.
Those doubts haven’t killed the idea, but they have prevented any real consensus.
Flamengo are also going through a difficult financial period, which could restrict their spending power next season. Even if Alisson were available without a transfer fee, his wages would need serious consideration.
There’s a reason the goalkeeper’s name has come up now, though. Agustín Rossi has faced criticism for mistakes in important matches, including decisive fixtures.
The Argentine hasn’t managed to win everyone over at Flamengo, and his performances have prompted discussions about alternatives. Alisson is certainly an ambitious name to throw into that conversation.

Liverpool triggered a 12-month extension in his contract back in March, keeping him at Anfield until June 2027. That means he could become available on a free transfer next summer unless another agreement is reached, as some local sources already have learned.
Should Flamengo decide to pursue the move, the idea would be to start preparing towards the end of December. They would then look to arrange a pre-contract agreement from January, when Alisson enters the final six months of his Liverpool deal.
For now, that’s merely a possibility being considered, not an approach or an agreement.
There’s another complication, and… it’s a rather unusual one. Internacional are Alisson’s boyhood club. He came through their academy, made his professional debut there and has previously spoken about wanting to return one day.
People at Flamengo are well aware of that connection. In fact, there’s an understanding that Internacional would probably be the goalkeeper’s preferred destination if he decided to return to Brazil.
The thing is Internacional are fighting against relegation, and sources have told us that some at Flamengo are actually hoping they go down.
The thinking is pretty simple. If Internacional end up in Brazil’s second division, their chances of convincing Alisson to return next year – or even honouring his wages – could take a significant hit.
It would potentially leave Flamengo in a stronger position to tempt him with a move to Rio de Janeiro.

For Liverpool, none of this represents an immediate transfer threat. Alisson remains under contract until the end of the season, and Flamengo haven’t really made a move. The Brazilian club are still weighing up whether pursuing him makes sense.
The goalkeeper’s future could become a bigger talking point as January approaches, especially if there’s no progress on another extension at Anfield.
Flamengo would love the opportunity to sign a player of his calibre without paying a transfer fee.
Yet they have their own financial problems, internal disagreements and a rival with a strong personal connection to the player. And apparently, some at the club will be watching Internacional’s relegation battle with rather more interest than usual.
