Chelsea host Tottenham at Stamford Bridge in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon

The lack of European football means that both Chelsea and Tottenham have had almost a full week to prepare for this weekend’s Premier League meeting. Both sides go into the game in good spirits, having picked up three points from their last outings.

The Blues came out as 2-0 winners over Everton thanks to a brace from Joao Pedro. Spurs, meanwhile, picked up their first win of the campaign with a 3-1 victory over Coventry City.

Spurs were handed a couple of injury worries from the game, with Andy Robertson, Tosin Adarabioyo and Omar Marmoush all having to be substituted. Roberto De Zerbi did, however, ease concerns by saying: "No, no, no, I think there are no injuries, nothing important."

As Chelsea and Spurs prepare for the game, there is a double hint from the Blues due to absences from Chelsea training. Here’s a look at the latest injury news from both camps.

Chelsea

A new addition to the injury list is Emiliano Martinez. The goalkeeper has undergone surgery on a fractured jaw following a head collision with Jarred Branthwaite against Everton.

The Argentine posted an update from his hospital bed earlier in the week, confirming that he’ll be back ‘in a few weeks’.

Martinez will join club captain Reece James on the sidelines, with Chelsea confirming that he has undergone an operation on his knee. The injury is expected to keep him out for around three months.

Winger Jamie Gittens is another player expected to miss the game vs Spurs, as he continues his recovery from an ankle injury. He picked up the problem while in action for England U21s over the international break.

Xabi Alonso could have a nervous wait over the availability of both Pep Chavarria and Malo Gusto. The former missed the game vs Everton with an injury picked up in training the day before.

Gusto was another who missed the game at the Hill Dickinson Stadium due to illness. Neither player has been spotted in training in the build-up to the game vs Tottenham.

There is also uncertainty over the availability of summer signing Emmanuel Emegha. The Dutchman recently suffered a small setback as he returned to training, and is yet to make his competitive debut for the Blues.

Tottenham

Tottenham have a few injury absences for the match: Mykhailo Mudryk, Lucas Bergvall and Savio are all expected to miss the match with knocks.

They will join long-term absentees Xavi Simons and Wilson Odobert, who are both recovering from anterior cruciate ligament injuries. Spurs will also be without Rodrigo Bentancur, who is serving a suspension following his red card against Manchester United.

In better news for Spurs, Pedro Porro is expected to return in time for the game. The full-back has missed the last two Premier League matches with a hamstring injury.

Destiny Udogie is also expected to return after missing the win over Coventry as a precaution.

The game against the Sky Blues handed a major double injury boost to Spurs, with James Maddison making his first start in over 500 days. Winger Dejan Kulusevski also came on as a substitute in his comeback from a complicated knee injury.
